Meet Haute Déco’s design team: Christian MigeonA graduate of Ecole Boulle in Paris, Christian started his career in jewellery, designing for couture houses Christian Lacroix and Yves Saint-Laurent, and pioneering the use of resin in jewellery. A chance meeting with a leading furniture gallery led to the Benazir candle-holder, a must of the 1990’s Parisian design scene.

From then on he turned his creative talent to the world of home accessories, finding inspiration in his Franco-khmer origins and his childhood in Indonesia. These have informed his style, an unlikely balance of contrasts and contradictions: a leaning towards zen-inspired harmony, counterbalanced by a primitive streak; an instinctive sense for strong colours and a taste for muted mineral shades; the use of sensual curves counterbalanced by strong lines and angles. Since 1997, Christian Migeon has been designing for Poignée™, in keeping with his conception of design, which he says “must always go back to the basics, be so pared down as to seem almost obvious, like something we always knew existed but never actually encountered.” |
